Wolfgang Kniejski Discusses Data Spaces and AI in Manufacturing

EU Projects- Innovation

As the project leader of VET4DATACOOPERATION, we actively collaborate with key European stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and awareness on data sharing and digital transformation in manufacturing. In this context, we are pleased to highlight a relevant podcast episode by our project partner EIT Manufacturing.

The latest episode of The Art of Making podcast explores the real potential of manufacturing data spaces and their role in enabling trustworthy, interoperable, and value-driven data sharing across industrial ecosystems.

In this episode, Wolfgang Kniejski (EIT Manufacturing) and Christoph F. Strnadl, Ph.D., CBPP (Gaia-X Association for Data and Cloud – AISBL) discuss how trust, neutral governance, and interoperable technical standards are essential enablers for effective data sharing. They explain how structured data spaces can transform machine telemetry into smarter AI solutions, new digital services, and measurable cost savings for manufacturing companies.

The discussion highlights critical success factors such as transparency, interoperability, and governance frameworks that build trust among all stakeholders—key elements for the scalable and sustainable adoption of data spaces in manufacturing.

Why this matters for VET4DATACOOPERATION

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, engaging in data sharing initiatives often requires:

  • clear and practical pilot use cases,
  • the involvement of neutral orchestrators,
  • simple and trustworthy governance rules.

These aspects are central to the objectives of the VET4DATACOOPERATION project, which aims to strengthen skills, awareness, and cooperation around data sharing in manufacturing. The podcast provides valuable insights that complement the project’s activities and support our efforts to bridge industry needs and VET provision.
