In recent years, over one million refugees have arrived in Europe, with continued inflows expected. The key challenges lie in their integration and employment.
Refugee entrepreneurs contribute significantly by creating jobs and offering innovative solutions to local needs, often more effectively than large, donor-driven programs. Social enterprises foster community unity, preserve traditions, and improve well-being. However, entrepreneurship is a complex path that requires information, networking, mentoring, training, and funding.
The overall objective of the REFENT project is to provide an overview of projects, initiatives, and methods that train, support, and facilitate entrepreneurship for refugees and immigrants, particularly in the field of IT entrepreneurship for women. A special catalogue titled “Support for Refugee-Entrepreneurs” has been developed to offer insights into the current situation of the specific project environment in the partner countries. It is enriched with the outcomes of various expert meetings, including transnational meetings and individual sessions with national and local vocational counseling organizations and representatives of our strategic partnership.
The REFENT project is funded by the Erasmus+ Program for the period 2019–2021.
